I was wondering if anyone has any information on the campsite located on Hubbard Island; below the Ashley Ferry Boat Landing. While it's definitely on the most recent river map, I find nothing listed on the website and don't see it on this website's interactive map either. I'm just wondering if camping is really possible (i.e. legal) on the island and if so, are there any amenities like a pit toilet, platforms, etc. Any assistance folks can give will be greatly appreciated.
That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

We just paddled past this
We just paddled past this area 2 days ago and the site is well marked but the landing was on a VERY steep hill. We actually chose not to even go up to the site because of the climb. That being said the island location seems like an awesome place to stay. We ended up staying at SCA and that was a really great site as well.

Hubbard Island campsite
As a follow-up...we did go on our overnight trip but experienced the same thing when we got to the site. There's no real place to get out of your canoe/kayak since the land drops immediately into the water. While I'm a bit older, I can usually find a way up most hills. We looked at that steep sandy soiled bank and decided it wasn't worth it. I'm not sure why I was told it was a "short hump" up the hill but it was a whole lot more than that! Honestly, as the site sits now, I would never recommend it to anyone until there's a dock and some stairs installed. Without them, the site is essentially worthless in my estimation for 90% of all groups.
